☀️ Best Ads This Week

Reading time: 2 min 18 sec

Hello you!

I hope you’ve enjoyed last week. Summer is closing in on us, and it’s certainly getting hotter.

Let’s start this week out hot as well, with some different ads for inspiration!

Pepper

You’ve probably heard the saying: “Simple scales fancy fails.”

Well.. What we see as a trend for UGC is that the old very scripted ways of making videos, is not the best way to go about things anymore.

The market is evolving constantly and their is seemingly a new cat on the street.

When it comes to video ad creatives in this current landscape. Their seems to be 1 of 2 choices to go with:

  1. Leaning extremely heavy into Direct-Response, often sacrificing brand, as a result of trying to acquire new customers.

  2. Focusing on “native-style” ads, which has more longevity.

This ad right here, is a great example of the ladder option of a more “native,” format.

“But should I go all in on Native Ads then, what about the traditional UGC format?”

The answer is, no. You can - and should still - lean on some strategies from the traditional UGC format.

Very few people can afford the best actors, editors, studio, etc, for high-production ads.

Believe it or not… There are actually also very few people who can make UGC content that is actually good and doesn’t seem fake.

There is one thing that makes a good or bad ad more than anything else, and that’s the creator.

If you want a great UGC ad. You need a creator who doesn’t need a script to stick to word-for-word.

They can’t be too serious or over the top, and they also need to seem professional while the video seems light-hearted.

This is hard since a lot of UGC Creators are actually just glorified everyday people who make content in their spare time.

The second ad of this week is an example of a great creator doing a great job.

It doesn’t seem like she’s leaning too much on a script - she might be. You can feel the genuineness all the way through.

RYZE

Alright… Here is the last Ad Creative of this week!

This is an ad from RYZE and it leans much more on the “traditional” UGC format as people call it.

The video works because it has:

  1. Good copy & Storytelling

  2. Great visual shots

  3. Features & Benefits that the audience wants

  4. Editing which matches the Energy level of the concept

  5. An very enticing Hook

It’s not that the other 2 videos before don’t have any of these things. But in those, the videos are much less “in your face.”

As a marketer myself, I really like making these highly-edited, Direct-Response ads, with lots of colors, sound effects, big focus on the hook, etc.

But there often comes a problem… That the audience we’re making the ads for are just not buying the idea.

They simply don’t believe the ad to be real or true, we haven’t gained their trust just yet.

If that’s the case, it’s most likely because of the creator not being believable enough.

If you want great UGC ads, or any ad in general. Your talent needs to be A+.

If not, you’re probably not going to make it.
