🔥 UGC of the Week 27
Reading time: 2 min 20 sec

Hello Ad Space,
We’ve listened to you, and it seems like the majority of you would rather see 1 newsletter a week compared to 3.
Therefore, we want to cut down on the sends and keep it to the absolute best UGC ads we find every Monday.
So, I hope you’re ready because this week is going to be a blast.

Abbott Lyon
The first ad this week is from Abbott Lyon
I don’t know what it is, but I’m starting to enjoy these POV ads.
These ads are very simple and aesthetic, and since the product is in focus, the quality of those shots needs to be high.
The gifting angle is also very good and honestly super underrated.
This is especially powerful when targeted towards girls and women.
Without knowing for sure, I would assume that this video has been shared around a lot.
Maybe they want to share it with their friends or family as a gift idea, or maybe they save it for themselves for a later occasion.
Regardless, the algorithm loves it!

Sand & Sky
One of my favorite hook types is the question-based hook.
You HAVE to get people intrigued, and a question-based hook is one of the best ways to do it, especially when the question is a bit vague.
“Which mask would suit your skin?”
You are sitting there thinking, “Well, I don't know, let me find out.”
Humans love to learn more about themselves. We are very self-focused creatures, more so than we would like to admit.
The ad moves to some quick features and benefits for each mask it shows.
Brilliant top-of-funnel ad!

SkinnyFit
Do you see what I see? đź‘€
The captions are slowly being typed to increase retention, and it works…
When I watched this ad, I wasn't even really looking at the glass, honestly. I was just looking at the captions, waiting to see the whole sentence.
Also, I would bet that the hook variations in this ad are just the caption types themselves.
They probably tried a bunch of different caption types and this probably proved to be the best.
No wonder the “retention caption,” as I will now baptize it, worked the best, right?

Takeaways from this week’s episode:
Gifting angles can appeal to a larger segment and therefore perform better than angles focusing on buying products for oneself.
We humans love to learn more about ourselves, so leverage that by providing your audience with a “custom” solution.
Hack retention by using a font that appears on the screen very slowly.
Three quick wins ;)
That’s it! 👋
That was all for this week
